Question Drug comparable to Adderall for higher dose?

Hi.. I have been taking 30 mg. of Adderall every morning for my ADHD for quite awhile and have needed a higher dose for a long time. I can't get a higher dose, nor can I get an afternoon dose due to being on state assistance in AZ. They only allow me to have 30 pills per month. A dosage above 30mg. changes from a tablet to a capsule that I can't even split between the a.m. and p.m.. I have tried Ritalin-didn't do anything. I have tried Strattera, as well and that worked for awhile and then stopped. I have been on the generic form of Wellbutrin since age 32 (almost 46 now), first given to me for ADHD, stopped working for that, but have stayed on it for Depression/Anxiety. I self medicate with caffeine via diet soda. I can't stand coffee. Any suggestions? Even meds for my depression stop working after about two years on them. I'm pretty sensitive to medication and either need a very low dose or a very high dose. It gets very frustrating.

Get off the state assistance and find a job that offers health insurance. I get 120 of the 30mg adderall a month, costs maybe $35-$40. I'm not trying to be a smart ass either, health insurance will help tremendously.

Also, how's that Wellbutrin when taken with adderall? I've been thinking of trying it.

JA2457, you take 120 mg of Adderall IR per day ?? Unless I'm calculating it wrong, that's 4 of the 30 mg's each day, times 30. I'm prescribed 30 mg IR daily, but I had no idea some doctor's prescribe high doses like 120 mg per day.

after my last child who is ADHD wait on into the military I went and got myself tested by a professional who specifically works with ADD, ADHD, and all the similar disorders. This was in the state of Mississippi. In about 10 minutes ago is win I got diagnosed with adult ADHD. It took some time to find the right medication and the right dose which was adderall extended release 30 milligram tablets. I took a total of two of them in the morning and two of them in the afternoon. Yes 60 milligrams in the morning I'm 60 milligrams in the afternoon. I have private insurance and a job however my husband who works with Customs and Border Protection was transferred to work in Nogales and when we moved to Arizona almost 40 years ago no doctor within the state of Arizona took the silicate me with the proper dosage that I had been taking all those years. Some state whatever it is said that you cannot have over a certain milligrams per day. Not long after this ridiculous transparent I had to deal with him the insurance began acting ridiculously crazy and now it's insane and doesn't pay for the actual milligrams that I was taking when I get to Arizona and got diagnosed and begin to get on my treatment again.this is ridiculous. I am so glad to know that within the next four to six months I will be back home and I will be back on the correct medication with the correct dosage Arizona sucks get over it everybody. You live in a state where the Mexican cartel and drug activity is so that everything about even legal jobs is going to be changed. Move out of there is ona if you want to get correctly diagnosed and correctly treated that's all I got to say

There aren't a ton of avenues to explore, you're basically looking at another stimulant. And if Ritalin didn't work you're looking at another amphetamine. So various forms of Dexedrine as well as Vyvanse are available. There is Desoxyn too but that's iffy because it's rx methamphetamine.

Idiosyncratic pharmaco-genomic profiling has made "generalities" a thing of the past in serious medicine.

Whatever is therapeutic in an ethical context for the patient, is what is "standard" - as pharmaceutical genomic realities begin to impact the medical field...

Denigrating others because their medically-approved, medically-guarded legal medicine is "strange" is foolish and uneducated...

Patients vary GREATLY... Our mitochondrial and DNA systems and proteins determine the ranges of everything - there is no uniform-linear "model type" anymore...

Ethics and patient palliation and remediation is all that matters. If ethics are existent and the treatment is subjectively and objectively beneficial, a priori toxicity induction being void in relation to the pharmaco-therapy, the trend of "out-casting" those of atypical genomic sub-sets shall die out...

That being said, Adderall can seriously twist up your bodily organic self-protection system, deregulating your neurons to implode upon themselves in plain language (and more research into the brain-centers Adderall interacts with so extensively is seriously needed); but if used therapeutically and morally, it is as safe as any other medicine. Likewise with the others; etc.

"Zezendi" is out there, yes? Generic methylphenidate, etc. are around...

As a professional, I would wade in the waters of Adderall and Adderall-like substances very cautiously...

We honestly do not know sufficiently enough about the brain dynamics of these substances to be so liberal these days...

I would recommend, even if of atypical profile, staying around 60 mg per day, and studying the hardcore science behind Adderall and the mechanisms, cofactors, nutrients, etc., etc., enveloping the subject, for the sake of prophylaxis of POTENTIAL cardio- and neurotoxicity... Keyword: POTENTIAL...

The original poster seems to have multiple co-morbidity of psychic states, and "internet doctoring" is irresponsible... But from what you have stated, I may gently remark, PLEASE TAKE THINGS EASY.

Self-medication via caffeine is a form of dysfunction, I am sorry to say...

I shall not obnoxiously proffer any self-vaunted, boastful erudition here, but I think you need the opposite of what your hedonistic drive is wanting: a gradual stabilization and possible reduction of Adderall or psycho-stimulant; a sympatholytic mix of a possible mood-stabilizer (e.g., Depakote-like?) and a suitable anti-depressant.

What clinical practice reveals is those who actually benefit and "need" amphetamine, receive no hedonistic reward from the substance, and are even drowsiness-induced by taking it... These are multi-factorial, multi-variable matters incapable of simplification...

My basic advise is, "GO EASY FRIEND."
