    Default Potassium Cl and Anticholinergics

This dangerous combo is often overlooked by pharmacists, as the K supplements are Rx and the anticholinergics are often OTC. My boss now asks everyone who's on K if they also use drugs like Dramamine or chlorpheniramine, et al.

Just wanted to throw that bit of info out there.

    Good tip!

"CONTRAINDICATED: Concomitant use of agents with anticholinergic properties (e.g., antihistamines, antispasmodics, neuroleptics, phenothiazines, skeletal muscle relaxants, tricyclic antidepressants, the class IA antiarrhythmic disopyramide) may potentiate the risk of upper gastrointestinal injury associated with oral solid formulations of potassium chloride."

Yes, thank you. I wish there was a better system of monitoring purchases of OTC drugs. Again, the responsibility in on the patient.

Like you said before, it's impossible to know all possible interactions...
