Tinman, you're looking at it upside down. It is a V with the numbers 5011. If it is small and white with a line for breaking it in half it is 15 mg of phenobarbital and your son shouldn't be messing around with it! Phenobarbital, a barbiturate, is used to control epilepsy (seizures) and as a sedative to relieve anxiety. It also is used for short-term treatment of insomnia to help you fall asleep.

If you still have questions, you can call the poison hotline which should be listed in the front of your phone book and describe the pill to them. Just remember, you were reading it upside down. You can also take it to any pharmicist to have it identified if you still have doubts.
