You ask what do "we" do. I think you need to separate "you" from your wife. (In your mind I mean, not necessarily move out!) If she is in active addiction, and it sounds like she may be, you cannot make the decision for her, she needs to want to get clean. You can decide what boundaries you set for yourself however. I am assuming she is on the methadone because of a past addiction? If so, then getting the clonazepam and not telling the clinic is addict behavior. Unfortunately you cannot control that. You don't even know if she really flushed them or not. Methadone and any benzo can be a deadly combination and she should not take them together without close medical supervision. If her depression and anxiety is so severe you fear she is a danger to herself or others you can take her to the ER. They can admit her for a watch, but short of that, I don't know how to tell you to proceed.

    Welcome,

Thisweek asked me to stop in to see if I had any advice. I'm sorry I don't. I do understand how frustrating it is to find inpatient care/detox. Not nearly enough facilities for one thing and then most often, the medical detox is only for a week. Not nearly long enough for what you're up against and that's likely the reason you can't find someone to admit her.

I'll try to find Bette. She swapped from methadone to subs and tapered from those. I'll try to find her and ask her to stop by. She can probably guide you on how to proceed from here.

Good Luck. I'll check on you.

    Peace,

    Cat

I saw this thread yesterday but did not have the energy to respond..

    But now I do..
If your wife wants to get off the methadone it can be done.
But it takes work and planning ..
Neither of which you can do for her..

I switched to sub from a very high dose of methadone..
    Not recommended or ideal..
    But doable..

The clonazapam is whole another issue that cannot just be stopped..
    It is dangerous..

Is she still going to the clinic?
Are they willing to taper her from the methadone?

I have to go but will check back for your answers
    And
    We will go from there..

I realize that no one wants to touch a person on that high a dose of methadone..

But I am proof it can be done..
It is so worth the fight!
    Take care

Thank you everyone. It's now day 5 of this new struggle which is 6 years long. I created a plan for her for taper in case we can't find a place she agreed to it. She's definitely willing. I think she just needs a hand to lead her there. Any more in put would be so amazing.

    Does she get take homes?
If she does she could taper herself much faster..
Is her goal to go to suboxone or just taper off the methadone?

What is she going to do on the days she has to take her dose in front of the nurse?

If she wants to induce onto suboxone and she can tell the detox center she is at 30 mg
    They will take her..

    That is what ai did..
Not the best plan but I was desperate to get off of the methadone..
    I hated it
    And
I hated myself for being on it..

If she goes into a center and they will take her if she says she is at 30 mg of methadone..
She had to be in full blown withdrawal before inducing to the suboxone.

There is absolutely no way around it or she will go into precipitated withdrawals
And then she will wish she was dead..

Why don't you try calling around and asking if there is a place that will induce her onto suboxone if she is at 30 mg of methadone and just a few clonazapam.?

That would be ideal because they can monitor her there and it would be safe..

She will have to stop taking everything for a few days ..
With that much methadone in her system it could take a week for her to get it out of her system..
If she starts the suboxone too early
It will knock off all the methadone off the receptor sites in the brain all at once..
    Not fun..

So there is no easy way to do this..
I as st that dose about maybe a little more..
It took 4-5 days of nothing
Went into detox induced on to suboxone ..
    Left 5 days later
    Tapered off the sub..
    That was 17 months ago..

The best thing I ever did ..

    Not perfect ..
But worth every bit of pain I went through..
I will look for your answers tomorrow.

    You can't swear ..
Please come back and write your comment again..
I will home all day and will check back in..

We can come up with a plan similiar to mine.

    It wasn't perfect..
    It wasn't dr ordered .

    But I was desperate ..

I used my desperation as motivation.
    I was angry ..
I used my anger as energy!

    That being said .
    I did it..
    She can too..

    Now 2 years off methadone.

    And 17 months clean!

It was worth every ounce of sweat and tears.
    Now I barely remember it..

    Hi sorry,

Does she get take homes? she had them until last week, she got busted with 100 pill prescription to benzo's
If she does she could taper herself much faster..
Is her goal to go to suboxone or just taper off the methadone? unsure, we're thinking suboxene

If she wants to induce onto suboxone and she can tell the detox center she is at 30 mg
    They will take her..

    She's @ 150 mg.

I think she's ready to taper, we're going to try 10MG ON 7/7 and see how that goes.
I wish there was a magic button like other drugs because I'm fine with her going impatient for 30-60 but no one will take her with that methadone. With her depression/anxiety as much as I wnat her to go fast I know it's up to her.

We're in the midst of finding a dr. that specializes in addiction, she has her own therapist. I want to build a good circle for her.

Yes if she tells them she is at 30 mg most detoxes will take her..
The reason that worked for me is you have to stop taking everything until
    To Ho on the suboxone..
You have to be in full withdrawal anyway..
It just takes longer from a higher dose..

But I can pretty much guarantee you no will touch her on 150 mg of methadone and benzos..

How are you going to taper her if she had to go to the clinic everyday?

The clinic will allow her to taper. so she's gonna go that route. Starting 10MG.

Did you go off cold turkey? Off how many MG?
