    Default Suboxone and Oxycodone help!

Hey everyone im new to this and new here. I recently had a back surgery and was put on 30 mg oxycodone and was taking anywhere from 4 to 7 a day for about six or seven months and was not only taking them orally I would snort them and now I'm looking to come off and go on Suboxone To help with the W/D .... My question is, while I am on suboxone would it be ok to take 1/4 of my Oxycodone pill as a mental relief every once in a while ? Would that cause me to stay in W/D longer? I do know that it won't help with my pain.

Bad idea. That's all I know.

    Hi, welcome.

Well, simply, inducting on Sub for opiate WD and then taking the very opiate you're trying to escape from is like one step forward, two steps back. Sub and full agonist opiates compete with each other in your body and brain. Not to mention, if you take Oxy after you've inducted on Sub, you'll have to wait to make sure the Oxy is out of your system before taking more Sub so you don't risk going into precipitated withdrawal (which is WAY worse than regular WD). And finally - yes, it could set you back. Bad idea all around. If you're gonna continue to take Oxy, you may as well toss the Sub.

If you're interested, we have a great Sub taper plan here (which includes the induction protocol). Before taking your first dose of Sub, you need to be in moderate to severe WD so you don't risk precipitated WD. Google a COWS worksheet - it measures WD symptoms. You need to score a 26 before you induct on Sub.

To read the induction protocol & taper plan, go to the list of threads on this board. It's the very first thread at the top, titled "Suboxone Therapy". I used it to taper off Sub, and so have countless others. Rapid Sub detoxes aren't generally recommended as they often backfire.
